Hello,
I am planning an international journey from Italy to Switzerland on October 18.
I have booked two separate tickets with a 1-hour transfer window at Milano Centrale, which I believe is a sufficient connection time under normal circumstances:
Incoming: Italo train arriving at Milano Centrale at 08:25
Outgoing: SBB train departing from Milano Centrale to Spiez at 09:25 (Supersaver ticket)
I am aware that Italo is a private operator and not an official member of the AJC (Agreement on Journey Continuation). However, if my Italo train gets heavily delayed on that day and I miss the 09:25 SBB train, what is SBB’s policy?
If I obtain an official ‘Certificate of Delay’ from Italo and present it alongside my tickets to the SBB station staff or train conductor, will I be allowed to take the next available SBB train to Spiez for free as a courtesy?
I would really appreciate any official guidance or practical advice on how SBB handles this specific situation for separate tickets.
Thank you!
