Hello Krist
There is a mismatch between the SBB search algorithm which suggests a Frecciarossa train from Milan to Verona, while Trenitalia’s algorithm suggests a regional train. No idea how it would be possible to solve this problem.
SBB has a theoretical timetable, you select a connection and they try to find a ticket for the same trains in the ticketing systems. Any mismatch produces an error. Trenitalia has only a real timetable, when they are sure that trains are running, and they can, I suppose, always sell a ticket.
I agree that this information doesn’t help your Australian tourist. The good news is that EU recognized this problem, the bad news is that I think it will take years until an a new integrated European ticketing system will be available. Or it is only science-fiction…
50 years ago it was still possible to buy an international ticket valid on any train for two months. Of course, you had to write it by hand and calculate the price yourself, but we were capable of doing this with our human intelligence.
